Privacy Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

dustplan (“dustplan,” “we,” “us”) helps households split and track chores. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using dustplan you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google or an email link, we receive your email address, and — if you use Google — your name and profile picture.
  • Profile details. A display name, an optional avatar or color, and your birth month and year (used to work out age bands for age-appropriate chores). We do not store your full birth date.
  • Household activity. The rooms, chores, completions, ratings, points, reward requests, and dinner schedule you and your household create in the app.
  • Children’s information. For junior (child) profiles, a parent creates and manages the profile, and we store only a first name or nickname, an avatar, and birth month and year. Juniors have no email or phone number and log in with a PIN. See “Children’s privacy” below.
  • Technical information. A sign-in session cookie to keep you logged in, and basic logs needed to run and secure the service.

How we use your information

  • To run the app: create your household, assign and track chores, and keep everyone’s list in sync.
  • To send you notifications you’ve turned on, such as your morning plan or reminders.
  • To keep the service secure and to fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Signing in with Google

If you choose “Continue with Google,” Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us so we can create your account. We only request this basic information. We never post anything to your Google account or read anything else from it.

Children’s privacy

dustplan is designed to collect as little about children as possible. Junior profiles are created and controlled by a parent or guardian, hold only a first name, avatar, and birth month and year, and have no email or phone number. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. A parent can review, export, or delete a child’s information at any time by contacting us or using the admin tools. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it.

How your information is shared

Your household’s data is visible only to members of your household, according to their role and age band. We use a small number of trusted service providers to run dustplan, and they process data only on our behalf:

  • Supabase — database and sign-in.
  • Vercel — website hosting.
  • Google — optional sign-in.
  • Resend — sending sign-in and notification emails.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our users.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can export or delete your household’s data at any time; deleting your household removes its data from our systems. If photo proof is ever enabled, photos are visible only inside your household and are deleted after 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and each household can only ever access its own records. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your choices

You can view and update your profile, change your notification preferences, and delete your account or household from within the app. For any request you can’t complete yourself, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app.
